Join the social side…
Last night we had a really good session led by Lucy in Peckham Rye Park, which I then followed with a really good session in the pub. Which is why this is late. But it did make me think about one of my favourite aspects of British Military Fitness – the social side.
Part of the reason I enjoy BMF classes so much is that you feel like you’re achieving as a group; unlike gyms, which are mostly about personal achievement.
There’s a real sense of camaraderie as you slog round the Oak tree in the middle of the park or scramble to touch innocent benches – it’s P.E. lessons as you always wanted them to be. Everyone’s there because they want to be, and everyone has a great time.
There’s also an extracurricular element to BMF, with pub quizes, nights out and all that, though I’m not massively into the idea of going to the pub after class without freshening up first; the idea of a deodorant-based pub shower isn’t that appealing. Be interested to hear how othe BMF-ers cope with it.
In other news, I’m still not smoking, so go me, and the app is nearly ready for release next week, so I’m really excited about that. I’ll try and get a video up showing how it works soon. I’m pretty thrilled at how it’s turned out actually.
Now if I could just get rid of this ’social headache’…
