EPIC FAIL

Epic Fail

It wasn't even that tasty.

So last night I just completely crumbled, and filled my body with really, really bad food.

One of the reasons I got fat in the first place was my desparately unhealthy diet. I can kid myself that it’s my awesomely busy lifestyle, but it’s just an excuse really. I’m just deeply lazy. You can cook some awesome food quickly if you have a mind to – on Saturday for example, someone made me an amazing salmon fillet that was tasty as heck, and pretty healthy too.

But even that still seems like a lot of effort compared to just dialing up for a pizza. At my worst, I’ve been known to get up to three takeaway pizzas in a week. And it’s not like I’m eating healthily the rest of the time either. Some people have beer bellies – I have a double peperoni belly.

This week I’ve been pretty good with myself, but something just cracked last night and I ordered a lot of food. Sure, there was an evil voucher involved, but in all honesty, I made a pig of myself. Garlic bread, chicken dippers, and a large stuffed crust meat feast pizza. I don’t say this to disgust you – more to disgust myself. Sometimes writing it down is the best way of doing that.

So it ends here. I’m drawing a line in the sand. Or at least, through the pizza menu. I’ve blocked the takeaway sites on my computer. I’ve barred the numbers on my phone. If I can’t do it with willpower, I’ll have to do it with brute force instead.

Now, anyone got any good low-fat recipes? Ideas below please!

Ha, that video was properly brilliant. I love Serafinowikiwichiwickch. Plus it's great advice - I'm going to eat some pasta pillows and Bonbonbonbons right now. Those Pizza Hut vouchers are killers though. They make you feel like you're actively wasting money if you don't order enough food to feel three families. Glad you're enjoying the blog!

It is easy to do :)

I find that keeping a food diary helps... you can review it to see what is adding calories, and just the thought that you have to write it down helps me not go for that 2nd (or 5th) mini-egg! I use http://fatsecret.com/Diary.asp... that has an Android app (and no doubt iPhone one) that lets you scan barcodes and a wide range of foods entered so you get a fairly accurate picture of what is going on.

I dunno about keeping a food diary - generally I know that eating a family sized stuffed-crust peperoni passion on my own is not great for my waistline. ;) Generally I'm alright, a small bowl of muesli for breakfast, a ham sandwich for lunch - it's just dinner times that I suck at. My eyes are totally bigger than my belly. Which is no mean feat. But you know what? I'm going to give it a go. Just to see. Thanks!
  • Ah, in part thats probably because you're eating only just enough during the day and then starving by the evening. A healthy breakfast, a mid morning snack, healthy lunch, afternoon snack and sensible size dinner might be a better plan.

    Some good healthy dinner ideas:

Chilli (make a lot and freeze several portions for quick dinners when late home)
Tuna Pasta Bake (with tomato based sauce)
Home made chicken curry (with a low fat choice of sauce and plain rice)
    Chicken Stir Fry
Low fat Sausage and Lentil Casserole

    Keep up the good work!

Oh and maybe consider one day, or one meal a week where you can eat whatever you like. But plan it ahead, eat it, enjoy it, then forget it and move on.

Oh and for morning/afternoon snack ideas:

    Toasted bagel
    yoghurt and piece of fruit
Quark with nuts and honey (my fave, quark is a low fat soft cheese, the sainsburys one is more like yoghurt, mix in a big spoon of honey and some nuts and raisins and it's a really tasty dessert with virtually no fat in it.)

Awesome stuff - I might just put this up as a new post, just to make sure people see it! Sausage and lentil casserole sounds nice - aren't sausages a bit fatty though?
